“Elaenia” a timeless release

Elaenia Sam Shepherd‘ s debut album Elaenia is out now on Floating Points.

The project involves collaborations with guitarist Alex Reeve (multi-instrumental based in London with the eclectic band Hejira), drummers Leo Taylor (Hot Chips) and Tom Skinner, Mulatu Astatke and House Master Matthew Herbert. They’ve crafted a gloomy, meticulous album.

The opening track “Nespole” is a beatless techno cut. The melody is a breathtaking  assortment synth lines  intermingling to create a retro-futuristic science fiction feel. The best track, in our opinion, however is “Thin Air”  which just makes you wanna shout out “fuck, yeah”!

Make a Breach style bass

It’s been a Foolboyz weekend with Hearts Stood Still riding high in the deep house charts. We got them in to do a production tutorial about how they made the bassline in the track, which we’re told was inspired by the bass in Breach’s Jack.

2 new DJs join the roster

We are delighted to announce 2 new DJs to the station’s crew: Rafa Nunes and Scott Flight. These two talented young DJs may play different styles and come from different hemispheres of the globe but they both share a passion for the craft of DJing. Rafa Nunes in underground house DJ from Brazil whose exquisite taste for deep house and electronic funk has seen his regular podcasts take iTunes by storm. Scott is a young US DJ who plays the EDM style that is currently slaying the floor States-side. His Radio Midnight and Downpour podcasts are a delicious mix of hands-in-the-air main room action and underground cuts. We can’t wait to have them on our station.
