Deep house meets D&B

We think it’s safe to say that, in terms of dance music, deep house was king in 2014. So much so that even D&B was infused by the ubiquitous male vocal. We were really feeling D Bridge’s remix of Hybrid Mind’s Unfold from last year.

…but were even keener to find out what 2015 and will bring. As the US dance music generation develop their tastes and move on from EDM we anticipate this year will be the strongest ever for underground dance music!

Label showcase: Defunked

This weekend sees two label showcases. The first features UK D&B label Defunked. Home to artists such as Aquasky, Razor and DJ Addiction, Defunked has been releasing the more soulful side of D&B for over ten years now.

Neptune has put together a four-part series of shows comprising music solely from Defunked. The first show goes out Sunday 15th June at 6pm (GMT) and you can listen to the following 3 episodes at the same time each Sunday during Neptune’s Bassquake show.

Chris Dub vs. Initial D

FS logo We’ve got a very special show lined up for Sunday 19th January: Chris Dub goes back-to-back with Initial D. D is part of the  Future Science crew, a collective of London-based D&B DJ/producers who run their own eponymous radio station and record label. We’ve heard a snippet of the set and it’s a killer – don’t take our word for it though; check it out for yourself at 7pm (GMT) 19/2/14.
