East Recordings kick off the new year with their 10th release being Pablo del Monte’s Emotional Con. The EP is nicely balanced with the lead track, Emotional Con, being aimed at mainroom deep house floors and supported by a future techno remix by Thallulah, William Medagli and Jose Maria Ramon. Keep On Repeating is tight tech-house number and, finally, Anytime is a contemporary deep house cut.
With huge DJ support for the EP and East Recordings’s last two releases charting top twenty we expect great things for Emotional Con, which is out on 22nd January 2016.
ElaeniaSam Shepherd‘ s debut album Elaenia is out now on Floating Points.
The project involves collaborations with guitarist Alex Reeve (multi-instrumental based in London with the eclectic band Hejira), drummers Leo Taylor (Hot Chips) and Tom Skinner, Mulatu Astatke and House Master Matthew Herbert. They’ve crafted a gloomy, meticulous album.
The opening track “Nespole” is a beatless techno cut. The melody is a breathtaking assortment synth lines intermingling to create a retro-futuristic science fiction feel. The best track, in our opinion, however is “Thin Air” which just makes you wanna shout out “fuck, yeah”!
It’s been a Foolboyz weekend with Hearts Stood Still riding high in the deep house charts. We got them in to do a production tutorial about how they made the bassline in the track, which we’re told was inspired by the bass in Breach’s Jack.
