We are run a monthly mixtape competition with the winning DJ’s mix being aired on one of our peak-time weekend guest DJ slots and uploaded to our social media platforms. If the mix is exceptional we often offer the DJ a show on the station. Details of how to enter can be found here. Good luck and get mixing!
September rolls in and so it’s time to announce the winner of our August Mixtape Competition. In fact we have two winners: there were 2 stand-out mixes this month, which split the judging panel – so we decided to have 2 winners. The winning DJs are Bernard Bugs and DJ Belisimmo. Bernard sent in a really interesting mix made up of early acid house and nu beat tracks that have a wondeful 80s feel to it. Belisimmo’s mix was a full-on mainroom/EDM stonker. We’ll be posting their mixes soon. A notable mention goes to DJ Sheik who came in 3rd. Congrats to all!
Along side our August mixtape competition we are running a second competition this month, this time aimed more at fans. Answer a simple question and you can win a year’s supply of exclusive mixtapes from the station. The winner will get a new mix each month from shows that have been aired on Brick Lane Radio. Or, if you are a DJ, the prize will be a week of free promotion with your biography posted on our website and social media. Question: Which American House DJ legend recently did a guest mix on the station? Answers: A) Frankie Knuckles; B) Todd Terry; or C) Derrick Carter email@example.com by 24/8/13 11.59pm (GMT) with your name, preferred genre of dance music (so we know which shows to send you) and the words ‘Fan Competition’ in the header. Terms and conditions: entrants who correctly answer the question will be be pooled and the winner will be randomly selected by BLR staff on 26/8/13, and will be informed that day by email. They will then receive one exclusive mixtape (1 hour DJ mix show) each month from a selection of DJs who play the winner’s preferred genre of music. The mixes are for personal listening and cannot be posted elsewhere on the internet or sold. Spam email will be blocked. If the winner is a DJ and would prefer promotion instead of mixtapes then we will post their biography on our website for one week and will link this to our Facebook fan page and Twitter account. The biography should be no longer than 400 words and can contain links to the DJ’s social media as well as a photograph. We reserve the right to edit the biography (to improve any grammatical issues) and not to post the photograph if it is deemed to be of poor quality.
Don’t forget to get mixing for our August mixtape competition with the winning DJ getting their own show on the station. Check full details here.
We are running a mixtape competition for the month of August with the winning DJ’s prize being a weekly show on the station. Submit your mixes via WeTransfer to firstname.lastname@example.org and put ‘competition’ in the message box, as well as your DJ name and contact email. Mixes should be 1 hour long, in any style of electronic music, recorded as an MP3 and not posted anywhere else on the web. Mixes can be sent in anytime from 1/8/13 to midnight (GMT) on 31/8/13. The Brick Lane Radio staff will judge all the entries over the weekend and the winner will be announced on 2nd September. The winning mix will be posted on the station’s website and the winning DJ will have their own weekly show as of the 1st of October 2013. Try and make the mixtape as original as possible. And special attention will be given to DJs who can mix in and out of different styles of music (although this is not an essential criterion). Good luck and get mixing!
